I shot this portrait of my daughter Mikayla on Ilford HP5 film using a 5x4 camera and soft afternoon light from an upstairs window. It was then developed in Rodinal with more than the recommended agitation, a combination almost guaranteed to give sharpness but with grain. Finally I cropped it square.

The image turns out to have a soft, grainy effect but with high definition. While I normally go out of my way to avoid grain I like the way it has worked with this image.
